Nigerian sonic trailblazer Aunty Rayzor, aka Bisola Olugbenga delivers commanding rap verses one moment and catchy pop hooks the next, driven by exuberant bass, playful rhythms, and unmatched energy.
Rayzor honed her vocal skills in church and sharpened her rap flow in Nigeria’s hip-hop battles. Known as the Naija Thugress, she blends Missy Elliott’s power with Erykah Badu’s boldness, effortlessly switching between hip-hop, afrohouse, and afrobeats in English and her native Yoruba. Influenced by punk, she told The Quietus: “Only punk lets me be my unapologetic self, especially for political or ideological expression.” In 2021, she joined Kampala’s Nyege Nyege crew, collaborating on her debut album. A young mother, she draws inspiration from providing for her family and making them proud.
“Rayzor’s sound is mischievous and chaotic with an air of absolute control. It roars in your face then flirts with you from across the room, winding its waist and stomping its feet” – The Quietus
