Since its inception in 2021, ZD Grafters has continued to defy description or genre. Based around the unit of child prodigy drummer Zac Kavanagh and his father Dave, the band’s output, style and line up remains ‘fluid’ to say the least.
Hailing from Birmingham their roots were, perhaps inescapably, in the realms of heavy rock, but Zac’s phenomenal forays into jazz drumming has lead the band in a multitude of musical directions over several releases, all recorded and released completely in the DIY spirit of the independent underground from which the band arose. Their latest album ‘Three Little Birds’ sees the sonic tolerance threshold pushed even further with the addition of saxophonist Riddell Thomas.
