Step into SEEMAWORLD, the fantastical theme-park universe of Seema Mattu—a Valmiki world-building trickster whose multimedia practice is rooted in Birmingham’s British South Asian culture, Seema’s work explores caste, queer desire, and the remixing of identity through radical, joyful spectacle.
This workshop, invites participants to build their own instruments inspired by South Asian musical traditions and a self-defined folk~punk aesthetic. Using upcycled materials and simple tools, you’ll co-create original bell-based instruments—while holding space for conversations on DIY music-making, community, and liberation through a queer and global majority lens.
All materials provided. No musical or craft experience needed—just come ready to make noise and dream big.
