Issimo! is an experimental music group devised at Artefact in South Birmingham. In our Issimo! workshop we will take every day materials and use them to create new instruments. You can create whatever the materials and your imagination will allow. These newly created instruments will be in an Issimo! experimental exercise and then we will use our new instruments to perform a new improvised piece of music.
Shaz Rahman and Alexander Townend are owner members of Artefact. Shaz is a keyboardist, who one day dreams of writing a distorted keyboard nu metal album having never moved on from 2004. Until then he writes songs about cats and buses as well as co-organising a songwriting group in Stirchley. Alex is a guitarist and teacher, who is part of the band “Adults.” The band tours and produces their own music.
Please note, entry to these workshops is included in the Supersonic Festival ticket – a festival ticket for the relevant day (or the full weekend) is required!
