Moin are a three-piece experimental outfit from London, whose members, while never having played Supersonic Festival as Moin, are no strangers to its stage. The group comprises Tom Halstead and Joe Andrews of the experimental duo Raime (Blackest Ever Black, RR), whose own immersive sound has graced the Supersonic stage in the past, alongside the endlessly inventive percussionist Valentina Magaletti, known for her work with Tomaga, Vanishing Twin, Holy Tongue, and Ondatta Rossa – all projects that Supersonic Festival have been fortunate to host in the past.
Moin’s sound navigates a dynamic terrain where the angular edges of post-punk and doom intersect with freer forms of improvisation and electronica. Subtle traces of their electronic lineage surface through manipulated textures, creating a dialogue between organic instrumentation and synthetic sounds. Live, this interplay becomes even more immersive, with driving percussion grounding fractured riffs and shadowy atmospheres. The result is a raw, immediate experience – familiar yet intriguingly unclassifiable.
