Fusing folklore, ecology and field recordings, Anna Palmer and Beth Bellis have created some magical soundscapes for the Woodland Tales happening in Lightwood Park.

After spending a year in the cyberspace with us, we are over the moon that this special Kids Gig will be led once again by Anna Palmer – in person!  Anna is an experimental songwriter, alt-rocker, pyscho-performer & sound artist. Woman of many guises, she is best known for her bewitching tones as vocalist & multi-instrumentalist in Birmingham’s beloved weirdo-pop band Dorcha. And this time, she’s bringing a friend – Beth Bellis! A fellow member of Dorcha, Beth plays the violin and creates gorgeous visual art and collages.

Together, Anna and Beth have composed new music for Woodland Tales to tell the story of Woodkid and their friend Muntjac’s journey through the woods and all the characters they meet. Grief and joy, loneliness and family are all themes in this wild and colourful tale they’ll be performing.

This event takes places as part of Woodland Tales – a new sculpture, storytelling and music project set within Warley Woods. It is a community art project commissioned by Warley Woods Community Trust and created by Hipkiss & Graney.

Should the weather turn for the worst, the event will take place inside Lightwoods House – so don’t let the rain put you off the fun!
