Harrga

This is an archive item from Supersonic 2022

Mixing poetics and politics, Harrga pays tribute to the ‘Harragas’ (people who cross borders illegally) through pained lamentations sung in French, Moroccan Darjia and some English.

Spitting fire and fury, their tangible compassion is present throughout their obscure noise-design, conjuring seething visions in the form of contemporary industrial music. With recent releases explicitly framed as a tribute to asylum seekers, their music bears a frenzied urgency which refuses the listener a comfortable position, with an intensity to likened to the political and sonic radicalism of Moor Mother.
