After their hypnotic performance at Supersonic 2019, we can’t wait to welcome pioneers of alt Hip-Hop, Dälek back to the Supersonic stage. They’ll be joined by Holy Scum, a new collective from Manchester made up of members from GNOD, Action Beat and Dälek’s Mike. What a pairing!

DÄLEK

Forged in the fires of the East Coast underground music scene in the 90s, Experimental Hip-Hop pioneers Dälek have spent decades carving out a unique niche fusing hardcore Hip-Hop, noise and a radical approach to sound. Featuring Rapper/Producer, Will Brooks and Producer/Live Electronics, Mike Manteca, the duo are a sonic tour-de-force from Newark, New Jersey. Following in the footsteps of their predecessors Public Enemy while drawing from influences as varied as My Bloody Valentine and German experimentalists Faust, Dälek have succeeded in adding completely new textural and structural dimensions to rap music, a genre that has long employed noise as a weapon of rebellion.

After signing with Mike Patton’s renowned label, Ipecac Recordings, Dälek went on a virtually unparalleled run throughout the 2000s and are now returning to the label for a new release this year entitled ‘Precipice’. After their hypnotic performance at Supersonic 2019, we can’t wait to welcome Dälek back. Plus, after Will successfully mixed New Edition’s Candy Girl with Black Sabbath for Sofasonic Festival in homage to our director Lisa, how could we not?!

“DÄLEK’s take on hip-hop is foreboding and hypnotic in a way that feels unexpected
