BRIDGET HAYDEN AND THE APPARITIONS

This is an archive item from Supersonic 2025

Bridget Hayden is an experimental musician whose haunting, atmospheric sound draws from the landscapes of Todmorden, West Yorkshire. With a voice weathered by time, her music blends aching folk abstractions with immersive, reverb-soaked textures.

Underpinned by waves of analogue reverb, and led by Bridget’s stirring and weather-beaten voice, the songs drift and crawl like low heavy clouds on flat-top hills, shaped by the land. The backdrop is equally as arresting, all subtle gloom cast in shadow, a gentle but pronounced swirling of textures, crafted from harmonium and violin courtesy of The Apparitions (Sam Mcloughlin and Dan Bridgewood-Hill). Her shows conjure a world where guitar swells and sombre melodies intertwine, pulling the audience into a soundscape both vast and intimate – ghost music for the living and breathing.

“Hayden’s voice floats over these ancient songs like a mist on the Yorkshire Moors and the result is an album of sinister, haunting romance.”– The Times
