As long-term fans of Will Oldhams profound output and after his jaw-droppingly brilliant set at Supersonic Festival 2024 we are beyond excited to be bringing him back to Birmingham this November.
Bonnie “Prince” Billy is the most enduring alias of singer-songwriter Will Oldham, under which he has released the majority of his work since I See a Darkness (1999). Drawing on vintage folk and country traditions, his songs explore the complexities of human nature with striking emotional depth and poetic clarity. A key figure in indie, folk and alt-country since the early ’90s, Oldham is known for ever-changing live performances intimate, unpredictable sets where familiar favourites and obscure cuts are delivered with equal sincerity and surprise.
“No two performances of any song are the same, and no two Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy sets are the same either. You don’t go for the hits (although favourites are received rapturously) but with gratitude for whatever slew of covers and unexpected mid-album cuts with which he decides to delight you. It feels personal, intimate and direct.” – The Line of The Best Fit
