  28. Oh, and can we give Master Musicians of Bukkake and their cod-ethnic schtick a break this year? They couldn’t have been more patronising at 2010 if they’d all worn coolie hats and sung Ching Chong Chinaman. Ditto Nisennenmondai, who from what I could tell played a near- identical set to 2009 without anyone noticing…

Fushitsusha may not be possible, as Ozawa Yasushi died a few years ago. I’d like to see Seijaku (Haino’s current avant-noise-blues trio) do a set though 🙂

I think, given Supersonic’s notoriaty for putting its finger on the pulse and putting on the kinda of shit that no one else will, I think for 2011 it would be appropriate to get a few Witch House acts in. If I were to pick two, I’d say go for:

    oOoOO (http://www.myspace.com/wkwkwkwkwkwkwkwk)
    Mater Suspiria Vision (http://www.myspace.com/matersuspiriavision)

Both are really good, and totaly fit in with that idea of underground production, utilising the internet to allow for a really small scale trans-national scene to spring up all over the place. Its super friendly.

Also, from last year can we have:

    Gum Takes Tooth
    Dethscalator

Both were ace live and put on some really very good sets.

    And then get:

    Health
    Visions of Trees
    Girl Unit
    Diplo.
    Anklebiter.

  37. YESSS!VHK the greatest band on the planetplayed with Neurosis, Voivod, Today is the Dayhttp://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=48653095134&ref=mf

  38. Wormrot
    Jello Biafra with anyone
    Nomeanso
    Melvins
    Colorstar
    Korai Orom
    Nouvelle Vague
    GWAR!!!!
    Aloha
    Skinny Puppy
    Mogwai
    Rivers Run Dry
    Mike Pattony (any)

  39. Jim'll Fix It /

Anthony Braxton’s Diamond Curtain Wall Trio,
    Blind Idiot God,
    Gorguts,
Dysrhythmia (two thirds of whom are in Gorguts…)
    Orthrelm,
    Portal,
    Otomo Yoshihide,
    Fred Frith,
    Electric Masada,
Goblin (apparently re-grouped again with Claudio Simonetti!)
    Zombi (failing the real Goblin).
    Behold… The Arctopus
    Altered States
    Foetus in a Jar
    Gravetemple
    VoV
    Orange Tulip Conspiracy
    Scorn
    George Clinton & the P-Funk
    Secret Chiefs 3
    Sir. Richard Bishop/Alan Bishop/Uncle Jim

I’m running out of ideas but if the Mr. Bungle reunion happens you have to get them headlining!! I sort of pray it doesn’t but now that Spruance and Patton are all friendly again i fear it’s coming… It’d be a fucking amazing performance but could fuck up their good name.

    • Mr. Bungle would be so fucking awesome. I really don’t think they could do anything to fuck up their good name. They must all be much much better players now too. Brilliant just to hear the tease of a suggestion!

  40. Get some wicked Australian brutality namely:

    No Anchor
    AXXONN
    Kusum Normoyle
    Justice Yeldham

they’re all pretty prolific, just google them 😉

  41. Hmmm, how bout,
    Othrelm,
    Deerhoof,
Ruins (Alone or two piece, which ever he’s doing now/then),
    Melt Banana,
Fantomas (I know this probably would never happen but would be AWESOME! They were insanely good at ATP, NBC 08, but I’m also aware it’s like a 10K booking fee before expenses for Patton alone for a one off show, let alone the rest of them!)
Fantomas! (just thought I’d say that again!),
    The Locust,
    Boredoms,
    Dalek,
    Antipop Consortium,
AFX/Aphex Twin (if he’s doing any live stuff at the mo),
    Mudhoney,
Future Of The Left (I know they’re not exactly Supersonic fodder, but they rock!!),
    Electric Wizzard,
    Sunn O))),
Squarepusher (he should play every year!),
    Chris Cunningham,
    Coco Rosie,
    Zs,
    Moistboyz,
    Ween (worth a pop!),
    The Gene Ween Band,
Ghostigital (I’ve never heard of these play anywhere in the U.K. apart from ATP NBC 08 where they were absolutely stunningly good and as mad to match!!!),
    Zu (a must have, genius!),
    Health,
    Antipop Consortium.
Why don’t you chuck a bit of dubstep on too. It’s the new alternative don’t you know! And also very good. Don’t know much dubstep as I’m fairly new to it but Datsik (very dark and dirty), Cookie Monster (dance influenced) and Trans4mers (not really dubstep but very hip hop/scratch heavy)
I think that will do for now, even if no one takes any notice of any of it I feel like I’ve done my part. The rest is up to you Supersonic people!

    P.S.
Put just one of these bands/artits on and you’ve 100% sold a ticket!

  53. I would really love to see eyeball eyeball, shield your eyes, Ox Bow (again), orchestre tout puissant marcel duchamp, makakarooma and amateur assassins, thanks Sarah

  54. OK – you brought the goods with Godflesh and Swans last year…so I know that you read these!

Lightening Bolt. (Do I need to say why?)
    Lustmord (Because he’s a legend!)
Melvins (To play Fall of the Roman Empire with Lustmord)
Kunt and the Gang (for pissing everyone off – and they’re inexpensive and made 66 on the charts)
The Dagger Brothers (for sheer camp insanity)
Menace Ruine (One of the finer folk-doom bands no-one has heard of…)
Stinky Wizzleteat (They’re getting better and better and better)
Whales (On same label as Stinky, and the album they released is just plain sick…)
Laibach (Because we all need Slovene Marching Music)
The Young Gods (far too good to be overlooked)
Tom Ellard VJ Set. (For the added wierdness)
    JG Thirwell in any form.
The Haters / Incapacitants /Whitehouse / Merzbow/ (insert noise group legends here)

Thanks for the awesome 2010. I’m totally psyched to see what comes next!!!

Surely you’ve got to get Boredoms this year? After all last year’s pretty-pleasing too… and of course then you could get Yamataka Eye to resurrect Naked City with John Zorn and scream for 20 minutes over a live version of ‘Leng Tch’e’. It would probably leave Digbeth a smoking crater, but it would be worth it. And Yoshimi could bring the OOIOO ladies over too. Think of the cross-pollination.

    Friday – Melvins
    Saturday – John Zorn
    Sunday – Boredoms

    [faints]

  62. Kaczynski316 /

Had to skip out on Saturday & Sunday last year due to a clash with something else, so how about just repeating the lineup?

    …heh, but seriously:

Bo Ningen (probably Britain’s hottest live act currently), The Fall, Andrew Chalk, any John Edwards & Steve Noble (one of the hardest hitting rhythm sections currently in England, if not Europe), Attila the Stockbroker

T’will do off the top of my head for now.

For the ‘token’ jazz act, might I recommend Tony Bevan doing solo bass sax or Gebhard Ullmann and his mates. I’ll recommend the loudest shoegazer band in the world The Twilight Sad like I do every year. In a similiar vwein to one of my favorite 2010 performances (that being Nic Bullen’s ‘Breach’) i’d love to see more vocal manipulation like Trevor Wishart or Gerritt Wittmer & Paul Knowles. But I shant hold my breath for any of the above… ;p I’m sure i’ll be pleasantly surprised when the lineup is finally announced.
