Kogumaza

...

Kogumaza formed in Nottingham in 2009. They use primitive rhythms, patterns and riffs to create dense and mesmeric song-cycles. The band’s live sound is manipulated through dub delays and echoes, allowing what is basically a heavy rock trio to expand and willingly lose control of the sound they make as they make it.

The resulting music marries fuzzed-out psychedelia to an ambient aesthetic, placing the band somewhere between the infinite repetition of Moondog, the thick gloop of Master Of Reality-era Sabbath and the hypnotic pulse of Lungfish.

They have recently released their first LP on the Low Point label and toured Europe with Zomes.

“At times Kogumaza sounds like the future or the strange murmurings of the universe; at others, the cyclical pounding of drums conjures ghosts of ancient rituals, as if drawn from the very centre of the earth” Fluid Radio

Silver Apples

...

Silver Apples appeared on the New York scene in 1967. Far from the Dead/Airplane-influenced West Coast hippies, their psychedelic music came with a dark-repetitive-New-York-scary flavour that did not sound like the rest of the Summer of Love.

Decades after their brief yet influential career first ground to a sudden and mysterious halt, the Silver Apples remain one of pop music’s true enigmas: a surreal, almost unprecedented duo, their music explored interstellar drones and hums, pulsing rhythms and electronically-generated melodies years before similar ideas were adopted in the work of acolytes ranging from Suicide to Spacemen 3 to Laika.

The band is now touring as a solo act, SIMEON, aka “The Oscillation Man”, who sings and plays his famous hand-made instrument, ‘The Simeon”, made of “nine audio oscillators piled on top of each other and eighty-six manual controls to control lead, rhythm and bass pulses with hands, feet and elbows”…

White Hills

...

With just the right blend of psychedelia and hypnotic grooves, White Hills weaves in and out of anthemic chants, deep space bleeps and other worldly madness for a mix that proves to be intoxicating. Since the release of the band’s debut album, listeners have been praising their originality and unique brand of heavy space rock. White Hills formed out of the need to forge Space Rock into the 21st Century.

‘A label like “space-rock” deserves music that’s as nuanced and limitless-feeling as space, and space-rock deserves a band like White Hills. Not only do they add urgency to familiar psychedelic rock templates, but they pay just as close attention to the quiet moments as the raging ones– each track on their self-titled Thrill Jockey debut displays a careful layering of sounds and atmospheres’ -Pitchfork

Secret Chiefs 3 were founded by guitar and sax player Trey Spruance and are based out of the San Francisco Bay Area. Their music styles vary throughout their albums with their performance of surf rock, Persian, death metal, and other various styles – the only thing unifying the diverse range of styles they play is how precisely and accurately they play them.
Some of the members were also key members of Mr. Bungle.

Eternal Tapestry will make you wish you were raised in Portland. Eternal Tapestry will make you believe that mixing the experimental sounds of Jackie O’ Motherfucker, the drones of Barn Owl and the ambient folk flavors of Plankton Wat is possible. Eternal Tapestry will bring back to your memory the krautrock-ish psych sounds of Popol Vuh. Eternal Tapestry is a visual sound that you would want to have constantly looping in your head.- magalighosn.wordpress.com

Mugstar

[jwplayer config=”audio sidebar” playlistid=”1378″]Are the sound of 10,000 exploding suns, pulsing with repetitive beauty and pounding like a supersonic mantra. Mugstar recall “Saucerful…” era Floyd and echoes vintage Neu! alongside the sounds of Oneida and Sonic Youth. Mugstar take the sonics of psychedelia and krautrock, drag it through the lenses of punk and post-rock, heavy as lead but driven to a repetitive extreme so that it becomes an impenetrable Krautrock hammer; much like Neu on a week long binge of testosterone.

Nisennenmondai

...

[jwplayer config=”audio sidebar” playlistid=”1365″]Their performance at Supersonic 2009 was hugely popular, so we just had to get them back. Himeno Sayaka (drums), Zaikawa Yuri (bass) and Takada Masako (guitar) met, of all places, at the same music club at university in Tokyo. After quickly becoming friends the obvious next step was to form a band, and Nisennenmondai was born. Their driving rhythm section and metallic guitar sound something like an ungodly and hypnotic amalgamation of Boredoms, Neu!, Can, and Ruins circa 1986-7.

Khyam Allami & Master Musicians of Bukkake present: Bosphorean

...

Master Musicians of Bukkake and Khyam Allami are excited and pleased to bring to the stage a very special collaboration debuting at this year’s Supersonic Festival, Bosphorean. Taking its name from the Bosphorus Straight that divides East and West, Europe and Asia, Bosphorean is steeped in exploring the musical schisms and mythology of the divide. Bosphorean will encompass the psyched out bliss and sonic spectacle of Master Musicians of Bukkake with the sublime Oud playing of Iraqi musician Khyam Allami. Expect forays into Turkish influenced fuzz rock, Desert motorik pulsations and the subtlety of Eastern tinged psyche folk. Khyam’s Oud teamed with the 7 piece out rock unit of Master Musicians of Bukkake. This will be a very special performance that should not be missed! This performance will feature original music composed by both elements of the collaboration and one original piece composed for the group by Seattle Composer and Persian vocalist Jessika Kenney.
