We’re back with another edition of our annual International Women’s Day show, and this one is an extra special affair, as MATTERS will be launching their brand new album ‘Echolocations’ (on Supersonic Recordings) with a mind-warping, immersive visual show at The Old Print Works in Balsall Heath.
Taking place as part of Outland’s ‘The Joyous Thing’ network weekend.
Following on from the release of Blue Ruth’s Mausoleum EP in 2021, Supersonic can’t wait to share this innovative collection of five songs from MATTERS. The hypnotic album will be released on Friday 3 March online and as a limited-edition run of 200 Vinyl, plus a limited-edition pop-up book run of 50. It will be available to pre-order via www.supersonicfestival.com & bandcamp from 31st Jan.
Since 2015, Brid Rose & Stuart Lee Tovey of MATTERS have weaved a dark, driving, all-encompassing sound; shifting seamlessly from film score to basement nightclub to industrial noise. This Birmingham-based band take a DIY approach, pushing the boundaries of techno, psychedelic, industrial and electronic music whilst producing intoxicating live shows with their self-made animated visuals and mesmeric lighting designs.
For their launch show, they’ll be accompanied by some super-special artists from the experimental music scene… PRNCSS, Arch Femmesis, Limpid & DJ Birthday Girl all of which will spread some joy and get us moving. With Team Supersonic being led by Women, come join us in celebrating the incredible Women artists we champion in our Supersonic line-ups all year round… the Women that work their bums off to make Supersonic happen and the Women of our audience who sure know how to have a good time! From the production office, to the stage, to the mosh pit – Supersonic Women take up space!
Allies welcome.
Opening the show is the art punk electro duo ARCH FEMMESIS. Their futuristic, exquisitely dirty, electronic beats pulsate alongside dynamic vocals and commanding bass.
Followed by a favourite from our Supersonic 2022 line-up, PRNCSS! Who’ll be returning to Brum to bring her voodoo vibes with trap, grime and outré electronics, delivered with pure energy.
And of course the mighty MATTERS will bring us a brand new show they’ve curated featuring music from their upcoming album ‘Echolocations’ out on Supersonic Recordings.
And if that’s not enough! Following all this stellar music, LIMPID the new alias of Anna Palmer from Dorcha will be bringing the late night party back-to-back with DJ Birthday Girl aka Dianne Velvet (of Sofa King).
