Supersonic Festival is returning in 2019 on the weekend of July 19 – 21, celebrating our 15th edition with an ambitious programme of mind bending music, sense shifting art and life altering experiences.

Nowhere else will you find a festival experience quite like Supersonic’s – since 2003, we have been hosting superior weekends for the adventurous audience, taking care to present only the most artistically relevant and irreverent acts from the UK and across the globe, while simultaneously making sure to fill every moment with the opportunities to let loose and party, or sit down at engaging talks, discussions and workshops, or take in exclusive screenings and exhibitions.

Children

Whilst Supersonic Festival doesn’t have specific children and young people offers, children aged 10 years and under are welcome to accompany adults attending the festival for free. If you are planning on bringing children with you please contact us in advance via [email protected] and we will reserve sufficient numbers of wristbands at our festival Box Office. We request that all children in attendance at the festival must be accompanied by an adult at all times, have their own ear defender equipment and be off site by 9pm.

Accommodation: “Where can I live for the weekend?”

We have negotiated a number of special rates for Supersonic visitors, you can read all about that HERE.

 

Alcohol: “Can I bring my own alcohol?”

Unfortunately not, you may be searched on arrival and if you are found to be carrying drinks, these will be confiscated. There will be licensed bars which have a selection of vegan-friendly ales + spirts + soft drinks on the festival site. If you look under 25, please bring some photo ID along.

 

Food

We have a food court plus a tea room on site, which will cater for vegetarians and vegans alike as well as carnivores.

This year we’ll be filling bellies with SriLicious, Beet The System, The Green Pizza Co. and MASA Mexican Kitchen. You’ll find their stalls in the courtyard to the festival Market Place. You can also get your caffeine fix from the Really Awesome Coffee Van.

We have an array of exciting workshops for you to get involved with at Supersonic 2019. Workshops & sign-ups will be announced soon.

Cash Points

There are only a few ATM machines in Digbeth, so you might want to take out money prior to arriving at the festival site. There are two free cash machines located near-by at:

Nisa | Digbeth High Street | B5 5NR (about a 3-minute walk from the festival site) which is open until midnight daily.

Birmingham Coach Station which is open 24hrs.

Smoking

Normal smoking rules apply: you can smoke in any outdoor area on site, you cannot smoke inside any enclosed public buildings.

 

Parking

There are a number of 24 hr car parks around Digbeth and about a 5 mins walk away from the festival site, these are paying car parks but are fairly cheap.

Led by three of Birmingham’s most long-standing independent festivals for film, music and performance; Flatpack Festival (30 April – 5 May), BE FESTIVAL (3 – 7 July) and Supersonic Festival (19 – 21 July), #WhenInBrum is here to highlight our favourite places to eat, drink, sleep and do.

EAT & DRINK WITH

Faculty Coffee, Piccadilly Arcade

 

There’s plenty of places to fill your boots here… We recommend starting your day at Café Artum; sip some coffee whilst you rifle through their top vinyl collection all homed in one of Birmingham’s most beautiful buildings. Take a short walk down Corporation Street and you’ll find an abundance of city centre haunts. There is Medicine Bakery and their stunning array of tasty treats (you have to try their Cronuts!), Faculty with their top-notch coffee and Cherry Reds, who have a sizeable, scrumptious menu alongside many a beer to try.

Closer to our Supersonic home in Digbeth, we suggest grabbing a bite with the Original Patty Men – burgers galore! But for the veggies among you, we highly recommend The Warehouse Café, it’s a long-standing favourite for our green friends. No better place to wash it all down, than with a pint at DigBrew, a brewery hidden amongst the Digbeth warehouses.

Birmingham has so much to offer, so we recommend starting with the Birmingham Art Map; designed for you to discover the great art, ideas and culture being made in the city (its listings often include lots of free events to go along to!) If you want to delve deep into some of Birmingham’s rich musical heritage, head along to the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery for the Black Sabbath, Home of Metal Exhibition happening between June 26 – Sept 29 2019. Need to kick up your feet? Head over to UK’s oldest working cinema, The Electric, to watch anything from old classics and foreign film to the big blockbusters.

Fancy something a bit off the beaten track? Check out BOM, a centre for art, technology and science dedicated to creative innovation with purpose.
