As part of his ongoing research into the potential to translate the fundamentals of Arabic music into contemporary compositional practices and vice-versa, Allami presents an unconventional solo electronic rendition of Terry Riley’s seminal minimalist composition, microtonally retuned and remodelled in the Arabic Maqam Rast, using a custom-coded micro tuning software patch Allami has been developing with London-based programmer Charles Matthews using Max for Live.
